The story so far...
Well hello there,
The last few months of my life have been completely absorbed with a project which I have absolutely loved bringing to life (with a nice dose of stress on the side!): The launch of my new brand, Wind Shore Goods, a brand rooted in the Irish coast’s beauty and the comfort of home. It’s a curated collection of meaningful, quality pieces that bring purpose and joy to everyday living. Whether it’s artisan ingredients, handcrafted home goods, or collaborations with Irish makers, each item is designed to enhance daily routines and inspire a connection to nature and tradition. This project has been years in the making even if I didn’t always know it. It marks a significant milestone as my family and I settle back into life in Ireland and my home town of Howth.
Wind Shore Goods has more than just products attached to it; it reflects the home we’ve been building since moving back. After years on the move with the uncertainty that it brings, it’s about grounding ourselves and filling our lives with meaningful pieces and routines which bring joy. Like our Fermoyle Pottery dinner set I plate our meals on or the kitchen table from my 20s, which has traveled with us through every chapter and now hosts our boys’ homework sessions and family dinners. These items inspired me to create something with the same heart.
When I began dreaming of Wind Shore Goods, I wasn’t sure what it would be. A physical space? An all-day eatery like my favourite spot Gjusta in LA? What I knew was that it had to be something I could wholeheartedly stand by. And so, Wind Shore Goods started taking shape, beginning with exceptional, essential products.
The story begins with an olive oil of outstanding quality from Spain. A simple, everyday staple elevated to something special, produced by OMED, a family owned mill in Ácula (Granada). Their NOVO oil is produced on the first day of harvest and results in the most vibrantly green olive oil you will ever see, which is peppery in taste. I’ve also collaborated with Irish makers who inspire me: ceramist Rosemary Durr’s for our morning routine, Cloud Picker’s coffee beans, West of Dingle’s hand-harvested sea salt, and Highbank Orchards’ organic apple cider vinegar. These elements, woven into daily life, enhance and inspire.
This is just the start. Over the past few months, I’ve learned so much, from setting up a new business. From designing websites and labels, a rather nerve wracking experience in the world of intellectual property and tackling the joys and challenges that come with turning an idea into reality. Next year promises even more exciting collaborations with Irish producers, artists, and creators who share a connection with nature and the Irish coast.
